Le Quesne's Pharmacy was established in Jersey in 1914. Shops have been located in Conway Street, Broad Street, Halkett Place and St Saviour's Road at various times, and today the outlet since 1981 is to be found in Don Street, St Helier. Le Quesne’s is still entirely locally owned, now by Kate Le Seelleur-Jones.
Kate is not the first Le Seelleur pharmacist proprietor however, with Great-Uncle Thomas J Le Seelleur recorded as having established ‘…a high reputation as a pharmaceutical and dispensing chemist…’ at his Beresford Pharmacy (at 17.5 Beresford Street) way back in 1896. Kate trained at Cardiff University, then Boots at Chiswick before returning to Jersey in 1990 and taking up a post at Le Quesne's in 1992. She has an interest in herbal and homeopathic medicines and enjoys nothing better than being ‘in the front line’, advising customers, and helping to solve their pharmaceutical problems.
Working with Kate is pharmacist Linda Mathieson. Linda studied at Strathclyde University, Glasgow, and came to Jersey in 1988, joining Le Quesne's in 1997. Linda is also a highly experienced community pharmacist, who together with Kate is on hand to answer your queries and go that extra mile, continuing the tradition of service of former owner Graeme Le Quesne.
All our dispensary and counter staff are trained to UK NVQ recognized standards, and we currently employ two full time dispensing technicians and three trained counter assistants. You will find many hard to obtain items at Le Quesne's, and if we don’t have what you are looking for, we will try our hardest to obtain it for you. Go on, give us a try today.
